It’s been a while since I last visited Mercato Contadino, and returning to this cozy Tuscan-inspired restaurant in Puerto Varas feels like coming home. Pia Giangrandi, the heart behind this special spot, is back at her station, preparing ravioli and chatting with customers. “There’s no menu,” she says with a smile to someone asking about the day’s dishes. “I cook based on what I find at the market and what I have at hand. Every day is different.”

New Flavors and Sweet Additions at Mercato Contadino

Pia’s journey from Italy to Patagonia has been one of passion and creativity. After two successful years, she’s teamed up with her sister, a talented pastry chef, to add new Italian-inspired desserts to the menu. Today’s special? Ravioli filled with lentils, minced meat, and parmesan, topped with a grilled tomato sauce, followed by a rich tiramisu that was simply divine.
